As Leading research and educational institution BOKU University combines natural sciences, technology and business disciplines to develop innovative solutions for global challenges in resource utilisation and environmental design. 

Thanks to its strong networking with industry and science, BOKU University is a valued partner in research and development. Particularly in the fields of forestry and wood science, it contributes to the further development of the sector through interdisciplinary approaches and practical projects. 

(IVET) Pioneer of thermal biomass utilisation

The Institute for Process and Energy Technology (IVET) at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna is a research centre for the thermal conversion of biomass. With state-of-the-art laboratory technology and a specialised technical centre, IVET researches innovative processes such as Gasification, hydrothermal carbonisation (HTC) and pyrolysis. 

A particular focus is on the Pyrolysis technologywhich turns biomass into valuable products such as Biochar and bioliquids can be obtained – for applications in power generation, agriculture and the chemical industry.

Experts for data-driven process optimisation in plant engineering

The CONENGA Group is an experienced specialist for Project development and engineering in industrial plant constructionespecially in the Biomass processing for energy generation. With an interdisciplinary team, CONENGA combines well-founded Process engineering, plant technology, measurement technology and sensor technology. 

A particular focus is on the development of data-driven and AI-supported models for process optimisation. Through close cooperation with research institutions - in particular the IVET at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna - innovative solutions for the efficient control and regulation of pilot plants. Thanks to comprehensive expertise in Project management CONENGA coordinates complex development projects and brings together all the necessary expertise under one roof.

The Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) is one of the leading technical universities in Austria and stands for excellent research and teaching in the Engineering sciences. With a strong focus on innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration, TU Graz makes a significant contribution to technological development in various fields. 

TATEKU Innovation works in particular with the institutes of civil engineering to develop new approaches and solutions for timber construction and other forward-looking building concepts. The close cooperation between science and practice makes it possible to transfer the latest research findings directly into industrial application. 

The Institute for Structural Design (ITE) at Graz University of Technology, there is a research facility in the field of innovative structural solutions and modern construction methods. The Sustainable Construction working group develops circular building materials and energy-efficient construction concepts with the aim of enabling resource-efficient structures. In the field of structural design, a particular focus lies on the integration of new materials into structural systems, digital fabrication, and digital process optimisation in the construction industry. Through the close connection between research and practical application, the institute makes a significant contribution to the further development of sustainable construction methods for the future.. The Institute for Structural Design consists of the Work area structural design and the Sustainable building working groupwhich is based at the ITE.

The Institute for Applied Geosciences at the TU Graz focuses on the research of innovative building materials and innovative material technologies with geotechnical applications. One key focus is on the use of natural and secondary raw materials to improve ground engineering and infrastructure measures. Using an analytical and experimental approach, the institute investigates the interactions between materials, the environment, and construction processes. State-of-the-art laboratory technologies and experimental investigations play a central role in this work.

The Institute for Materials Testing and Building Materials Technology (IMBT) at the TU Graz explores the properties and applications of building materials. Both traditional construction materials and innovative materials are tested and optimized. The focus is on experimental material analysis, the development of standards, and the assessment of environmental and life-cycle characteristics. Through application-oriented research, the institute provides vital insights for the further development of modern construction methods and adaptation to future technological challenges.
